Simple Tips for Better Search Results
- Use more generic search terms. For example, if you are searching for Harry Potter
and the Order of the Phoenix by J.K. Rowling, try searching
Harry Potter or Rowling.
More broad search terms will return more results.
- If an author has initials or a middle name (example, W.E.B Griffin, Eric Van Lustbader,
Wanda E. Brunstetter, etc.) , try searching only their first or
last name.
- Search for either a title or an author, not both at
once!
- Do not search for a genre or type of book (example, Children's Books, Paranormal,
Classics, Mystery, etc.). Instead, try searching for authors who typically write
in that genre.
- Be careful of spelling. If a book name contains a number try spelling the number
out if there are no results (Example, try searching Seven Minutes
To Noon instead of 7 Minutes to Noon).
- If a book title begins with 'a' or 'the', try searching without
the article.
- If a book title contains the word 'and', try both searching with the word
and spelled out and with the symbol &.
